Katie + Aaron got married last summer at Wasing Park and in true August bank holiday tradition, it rained… ALL DAY LONG, but that did not stop these two from having the best day ever with their friends and family.
Katie met Aaron waaaaaay back when she started working at The Hand and Flowers pub in Marlow where Aaron was already working as a chef. One day in the kitchen whilst she was polishing some cutlery, Aaron let out a ginormous burp to which Katie couldn’t stop laughing at. That was the moment their eyes met and from there it was a happily ever after! Katie and Aaron’s wedding was so much fun and had such a chilled vibe. They did not for a second let the relentless rain, rain on their parade, they fully embraced the day. A wedding should be filled with fun, laughter, friends, family, good food and a hell of a lot of dancing and that is exactly what they had. Here’s their awesome wedding.
Getting ready
Katie got ready at Wasing Park with her friends, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric, the excitement levels were through the roof and everyone could not stop smiling! Katie looked absolutely stunning in her dress (and amazing shoes – She really is a shoe girl!) Aaron got ready elsewhere with his mates, then travelled in style in a Rolls Roye to Wasing and grabbed a pre-ceremony pint on arrival whilst giving massive hugs to guests as they arrived. Once the hellos were done and everyone was suited and booted they braved the elements and walked across to the church to wait for Katie’s arrival.
The ceremony
The ceremony was an intimate affair with some beautiful readings from family members. Katie and Aaron were full of giggles standing at the front, they did not take their eyes off each other and I don’t think they let go of one another’s hands throughout the whole ceremony!
The Reception
Everyone grabbed a brolly and walked over to the glasshouse to enjoy bubbles and some seriously good nibbles (the food had to be good, they used recipes from the Hand & Flowers) The room looked stunning. Katie had thought up the most amazing centrepiece and seating plan, a tree! It looked stunning and hanging from the tree were all the guests names and what table they were sitting at. It was a real talking point. Despite the rain, we cracked on with group shots and embraced the rain.
I have to mention the speeches. I have shot a lot of weddings and heard a lot of speeches but I have never seen the best man speech done in the style of a game show before. Aarons best men Adam and Tom had set up a surprise fully interactive quiz for all the guest to play along and win Katie + Aarons £8,000 to pay for their honeymoon – it was something else!!! Quickfire questions, buzzer challenges and a round of higher or lower saw Aaron claim victory and scoop the prize!
For dinner, they had the most amazing beef you have ever seen and nominated a carver for each table – tying in Katie and Aarons love of food and work. The first dance was a good old traditional wedding shuffle, and they finished off the evening up on the stage with the band, singing their hearts out!
The best part of the day was the dancing, every single person was up on their feet dancing their asses off! The band Eight Ray Music were hands down one of the best bands I have seen and heard at a wedding.
