I loved this Colourful DIY wedding, it had all my favourite things – flower crowns, smiley happy faces, stunning florals and a lot of alcohol!
Amy + Lewis got married last summer at their own back- garden in Petersfield, with all their wonderful friends and family around them. It was the most beautiful wedding and I did not stop smiling all day!
Getting ready
Amy got ready at a nearby hotel with her friends they then drove themselves back to Amy’s home where Lewis was already reading and waiting for her arrival.
The ceremony
The ceremony was fantastic. Amy had one of her best friends officiate the wedding using words that Amy + Lewis had put together. It was so incredibly personal and very heartwarming to hear. They also had friends do a reading and a play a little sing-song, everyone was singing their hearts out! Once married, they walked back down the garden to a shower of confetti and that photo is one of my most all-time favourites!
The reception
Because they got married in their garden, it meant everything and everyone were right where they needed to be and the garden looked AMAZING. They decorated every inch of the garden in colour. Lots of lanterns and fairy lights. Amy bought lots of prayer flags on eBay which they hung across the garden and they hired festoon lighting which came to life as it got dark. Amy also collected lots of different Ale bottles to decorate the tables with wildflowers inside. They also made a giant ‘LOVE’ sign and hung it on the fence.
It was a typical British August day, and the rain held off until everyone was sitting down to eat. While the guests hung around drinking, we wandered around the corner too so their couple portraits. The moody grey sky and the freshly cut field complimented each other so well!
For dinner, they had a BBQ and it was absolutely delicious. After the meal there were a few hilarious speeches, then we played FLIP CUP!!!! (The most fun game ever, but Amy’s girls took it to next level competitiveness – just wait and see!
The couple had their first dance and the band kicked off the party and people did not stop dancing… and doing shots! The perfect combination for a wedding day!!!
The couple
Amy wore a skirt was by Catherine Deane and paired it with a top by Stephanie Allin. Her shoes were super cheap from New Look and picked up her earrings for about £6 from Bristol market.
Lewis wore a Hugo Boss suit jacket with trousers from All Saints and a shirt from a local shop; John Goodridge Menswear. The shoes from Base London. The two bridesmaids wore jumpsuits from Free People and looked stunning.
Amy + Lewis originally met through mutual friends about 17 years ago. There was always a bit of a spark between them Then 8 years and 2 children later they felt it was time to make things official!
They got in touch with me last year and they said they just wanted to get married and party and I loved that! Amy + Lewis wedding was so much fun and had such a chilled vibe. Here’s their awesome wedding!
