CHILLED OUT SUNSET CEREMONY IN A STUNNING LITTLE GREEK VILLAGE.

Katie and Tim have a super special tie to Arillas, a beautiful tiny little village in Corfu. Katie has holidayed here year on year since she was a baby with her family, then returning with friends it became their second home. So it was the only choice of venue when Tim and Katie became engaged.

When I arrived the excitement totally took over. Stepping off the plane and feeling the sun on my face was just wonderful and then arriving in Arillas, I was staying a stone’s throw away from the beach, I squealed out loud and did a happy dance. I unpacked just as the sun was setting and walked out onto the balcony and OH MY GOD, what a treat it was, the colours with the sea and the sand and the perfectly place rocks out in the distance. It was the stuff of dreams!

Over 100 friends and family flew out to watch Tim + Katie get married on the beach, which I think is true testament to the kind of people that Tim and Katie are. Each one of the people I spoke to (and drank with) said what kinds hearted, lovely people they are.

Getting ready

Katie got ready with her best friends, in an apartment that she has stayed in from day dot of her arriving on the Island. Her awesome bridesmaids put a book together of all their memories over the years and there in that very book were photos of them all in the exact room they were all standing in now, watching Kaite get ready on her wedding day.
It was like a time warp, nothing had changed, but everything had gone full circle.

Tim got ready down the road with all the boys at another hotel, but it did not feel like a hotel at all. After years of return visits, everyone knew everyone so it just felt like one big family working together to pull off an amazing day. Once Tim was ready (in full suits in 36° heat!) they walked along the beachfront to the ceremony and greeted the rest of the guests.

The Wedding

The ceremony styling was simplistic which was perfect because the beach views did all the talking. The ceremony began with so many smiles and finished with Tim + Katie walking down the aisle with the sun beginning to set. It was a beautiful ceremony, full of nervous giggles and excited hand squeezes.

We crossed the road and the fun began, food and drink galore as we watched the sunset and the party started. I think the food finally stopped coming at 11 pm and the cake cut was around midnight, then things got really REALLY messy. Shots all round, beer flowing and the DANCING – OH MY GOOD THE DANCING, some of the best moves I have ever seen!
I partied hard with everyone until around 3am – then I then took my tired feet off to bed.

The Next Day

The next day there were quite a few sore heads and lots of bleary eyes, the sun loungers were full around the pool but everyone was bursting with happy stories from the wedding and perked up for round 2, a chilled-out pool party and BBQ later in the afternoon. Good food, good music and everyone coming together again for some good fun.

When it was time to leave I felt so sad it was all over. Tim, Katie with their friends and family took me in and made me feel so at home. I loved this wonderful destination wedding so much and we will be going back to Arillas that is for sure!
