This is the perfect time to share this festive wedding.
Jodie + Gary got married at Sopley Mill last winter. It was a super cold (and rather windy) December day but we had the most beautiful winter light showing us all just how fantastic a winter wedding can be!
This is my third time shooting at Sopley and it has been wonderful to see it throughout all the seasons. No matter what time of year it is, Sopley just looks fab!
The ceremony
The wedding took place at in the beautiful white brick-walled room at Sopley Mill. The room looked amazing with a huge floral arch as a focal point, created by the talented Arcade Flowers. The ceremony was short and sweet but packed with emotion and a massive arms up in the air once they were declared husband and wife.
After the ceremony, we all headed down the stairs and I took Jodie and Gary off for portrait photos, which i always find is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some down time to let it all sink in. Then the couple mingled with their guests, which was the perfect time for me to get candid photos of their friends and family.
The rest of the day
Jodie and Garys guests were on top form, everyone was asked to bring a Christmas decoration with them to decorate the Christmas tree, which I thought was a lovely sentiment. The couple decorated the room really tastefully, Christmas themed with a modern twist. I loved the decor all the way through and really loved that the Jodie and Gary gifted everything with their very own ‘grown your own xmas tree.’ The speeches were very emotional and as per usual, I cried (when do I never not cry, i just can’t help it!) The way Jodie and Gary looked at one another, it was pure magic. No one else in that room mattered, Gary was talking to Jodie and only Jodie and when he started talking about family and there little boy… well that was when I was tipped over the edge!
The party
After the meal was finished, table games commenced – I tried to learn the rules but i had not a single clue as to what was going on! They cut the cake, did a fab first dance and Jodie also did a super energetic jive with her Dad to Run Rudolph Run which really kicked the party off. The DJ played all the best songs to get everyone dancing.
As you all know one of the best parts of weddings is the dancing, people have had a few drinks and just let lose, this wedding was no exception. We had some moves!
I left them all dancing the night away – with fairy lights twinkling and the spirt of Christmas firmly in the air.
